Thrillist San DiegoShockingly not a community center constructed from garments with sexily slanted seams from neck to armhole, Raglan Public House's the newest creation from the Bare Back Grill's Kiwi crew, all mellowed out with retractable front windows, picnic table patio seating, and surf-themed lighting fixtures, which're meant to evince the laid-back vibe of the New Zealand surf town from which it takes its name.
What's New: Fresh-to-death food includes the Pepper N' Pesto beef burger with mozz/ roasted peppers/ pesto aioli/ basil/ and a balsamic reduction, but the real draw is beer, with 24 craft taps, a cask, and around 60 bottles (soon to be 100), including Kiwis like The Sultan from 8 Wired, Invercargill's Smokin' Bishop, and Pot Kettle Black from Yeastie Boys who're all “no, check our head, it's delicious!”. And because you like beer so much you want more beer in your beer, they're rocking all-new mixers like the “Smoked Indian” combining Stone Smoked Porter & IPA, “Chocolate Truffle” with Young's Double Chocolate Stout/ Lindeman's Framboise Lambic, and even a Red Beer that tops Pilsner with a bloody mix, though a significantly smaller amount than necessary for Red Rum.
Old Favorites: They're still rocking “munchies” like the Jus-Chilin' turkey/ corn chili with chopped jalapenos and tortilla chips, “gnarly big burgers” including the Edam-smothered Queenstown Fave, and cheeky sandos like the fried tilapia/ spicy coleslaw/ avo/ tarragon mayo Wake & Bake, which is definitely something that's never been done in a laid-back NZ surf town.
