Much like watches, baby kangaroos, and HOT, the best things in life often come in pockets, so when the dude behind Papa Luna's Empanadas spent a stint in Argentina eating food-filled ones, he decided to bring them stateside and open a shop in PB. The counter-ordering spot with a street-side patio slings the super-cheap, super-portable pockets o' goodness fresh and hot, or even take and bake, if for some reason you couldn't do that before you cruised in.
Traditional: Dudes trying to impress Argentinean chicks/Lionel Messi should opt for Camarones y Tocino (tiger shrimp, smoked bacon, garlic, white sauce), Carne Molida con Papas (ground beef/ green olive/ hard-boiled egg/ potato), or Jamon y Queso with Black Forest ham, queso fresco & green chili.
Not So Traditional: They're also stuffing more contemporary fare like ahi/ Sriracha cream/ soy glaze/ rice for the Pacific Rim Ahi, and even going so far as to create plays on archetypal meals like the Turkey Dinner (turkey/ stuffing/ cranberry-filled empanada with a side of mashed taters & gravy) and Pork Chops & Apple Sauce, with apple chutney served alongside a pocket filled with pork tenderloin & wild rice, which tends to be a little seedy.
The Sweetest Things: They're even baking hand pies filled with actual pie stuff, like Dulce de Leche, and Apple & Nutella Banana Eclair, plus mixing in more intriguing specialties like one with papaya, strawberry, basil, cream cheese, and mango, who's really just excited to be doing something after SNL.
And since you're going to have one hand free to eat other things, you should also pick up regular/ sweet potato fries or plantain fritters called araƱas, all of which they'll be delivering in the near future -- meaning soon they'll do the taking, leaving you free to concentrate on that other thing.
