Southern specialties in the 'Loin

For a while now, booze and the Tenderloin have gone hand in hand, thanks to drinking staples like Bourbon & Branch, Rye, and, oh, all those boozed up homeless dudes. Yeah, them. Ensuring your food is enjoying that same connection, Hyde Away Blues BBQ, soft opening this Friday

From a family of BBQers with to-the-point nicknames (Big, Mama, Sister, and Lil), HAB-BBQ is a Southern-style joint doing up hooch-addled smoked meats in the 'loin with a 20-seat feels-like-home interior decorated like a T.G.I. Friday's if all that bric-a-brac actually meant something, with wall-to-wall framed family photos, vintage signage, an entire shelf's worth of barbecue competition bling, and blues/jazz-themed potpourri (yes, there's a Kenny G poster, and that fact is your joke). Napkin-required edibles will include alcohol-infused smoked staples (like whiskey-soaked pulled pork and Cognac-doused turkey wings), a shrimp/ sausage/ chicken/ Dungeness crabbed gumbo, and chef's-choice daily specials they'll pull out of old BBQ menus from 40yrs worth of meat smoking, also the first bullet point on Traci Lords' LinkedIn page. Additionally, they'll have plenty of classic sides (collard greens, ham hocks, mac 'n cheese), drinkables like a Memphis mint lemonade, and boozed up desserts ranging from a Cognac-infused peach cobbler to a banana pudding spiked with rum, also Joe Namath's post-touchdown celebration move of choice.

They've also got two more locations on the way in San Carlos and Hayward (dubbed Big May's Blues City BBQ) which'll both have live blues, also a staple in the Tenderloin thanks to that task force with the helmets and the bulletproof vests.
