Adding another notch in their bandolier, the Scion guys have just opened Crios: a modern Mexican joint next door in Dupont, it updates the old Vento space with bold blues and pinks, an LED-lit square bar, colorful patio picnic tables out front, and one choice table outfitted with one o' them new-fangled, self-pouring draft handles and digital monitor, so you know when you need to tap-out.

Both restaurants are named for their kids, but the similarities stop there, with Crios's menu stocking south-of-the-border hotness like a seared tenderloin filet w/ "RioRio" chimichurri, tamarind-glazed pork loin & belly w/ braised apple red cabbage, and tacos served two at a time & stuffed with queso fresco, chipotle adobo, or pork shoulder braised in Dr Pepper, though hopefully not from the can Fergie touched in that commercial (she's gross!). They've also got enough cocktails to make even Fergie look presentable, including winners like a beer margarita w/ Lagunitas IPA mixed with silver tequila & honey, the El Dorado w/ silver mezcal, hefeweizen & lemon, and the well-named, reposado/ pineapple/ ginger beer/ bitters Tequila Mockingbird.

Oh, and that tap table you need to be sitting at right now? It pumps two drafts with a rotating selection of six beers, like Uinta Sum'r Ale, Breckenridge Agave Wheat, and the Oliver Ales Ironman, which just like this table, is extremely difficult to walk away from.
