Num Pang

21 E 12th St, between University and 5th; 212.255.3271

A graffiti-decked, bi-level eat-in/take-out from the Kampuchea guys, Pang serves a rotating menu of six to eight Cambodian-style sandwiches (hoisin veal meatballs w/ jasmine rice & basil, grilled Duroc pork, peppercorn catfish, etc), plus sides like grilled corn w/ chili mayo & coconut flakes, and Asian bottled drinks like China Cola -- carbonated beverage of the People's Republic, where even now Max Headroom's stuttering "Catch the Wave...C-C-Commies!".
