With all the powerhouse sports schools in Florida, the little guys can have a tough time keeping up: while others chant "Tebow!", they're left to rally with whimpers of "We Blow!". For a place where fans of one of the non-dynamos can at least drown those sorrows: S Sports Bar and Grill.

Just down the road from FIU, S is a straight-up sports bar in a sprawling space: there's a 40-foot bar decked with a row of 10 flatscreens, two side rooms with an additional 33 TVs, tons-o-high tops and booths, and a stage for DJs whose "We Are the Champions" records should remain indefinitely wear-free. The menu's got sports bar staples plus some more out-of-the-box stuff: beef carpaccio with olive oil and fresh lemon; fresh oysters; fried pork chunks with yuca sticks; burgers like the Texas Longhorn (topped w/ grilled ham, BBQ sauce, and Provolone); and a shrimp cocktail called the "Home Run", available even if your own fleshy curl hasn't gotten past second since college. Entrees're surprisingly robust, with linguini fra diablo (assorted seafood in spicy tomato & fresh basil), a filet mignon with creamy au poivre sauce, grilled pork tenderloin with sauteed peppers, onions, and mushrooms, and St. Louis-style ribs slow-cooked with a smokey BBQ sauce called Duval's Favorite, despite lacking the smell of napalm in the morning.

The bar's plenty full of taps like Guinness, Newcastle, and Sapporo; in addition to steep March Madness discounts on Sam, 4-7pm/11pm-2am happy hour has $10 pitchers of rotating drafts, $4 mozz sticks/chicken tenders, and 2-for-1 wells, which just like Tebow's ill-fated eyes, will never run dry.
