Any member of the Pert shampoo dynasty can tell you that people love getting two features in a single package. Taking that calculus one numeral further: North Hollywood's Bank Heist.
From the guys behind XES, Heist's a 3-in-1 restaurant/club/lounge in the shell of a 1920s bank shut down by the Depression and the subsequent scarcity of beaded pen chains. Part one's a 'til 1 A.M. (2 on weekends) streetside diner; serving everything from Garlic Saffron Mussels to Dijon-and-Herb-encrusted Rack of Lamb, it's manned by a former Four Seasons chef who tired of getting paid in exfoliating sugar scrubs. Diners get access to the club: a cavernous, darkened dance-floor with bottle-service tables and top-notch DJs including Carl Cox and The Crystal Method (whose work you might otherwise miss, assuming you TiVo through every commercial ever). Upstairs, you'll find a leather-couch-strewn, bordello-themed lounge that hosts a weekly burlesque show -- a bait-and-switch on par with a food-themed lounge that serves you gum.
Once things get rolling, Heist'll host everything from comedy to indie rock bands to top-40 nights, when you can indulge in another three-in-one combo: lamenting the state of pop music while jamming a pen in your ear and fantasizing about a mute Nelly Furtado.
