Coco De Ville
A steakhouse can achieve greatness in many categories: the primest cuts, the creamiest spinach, the bleu-cheesiest wedge, or...the most colorful basement nightclub? Meet the uncontested greatest (in the latter category): Coco De Ville.
Accessible via its own, list-assisted entrance, CDV's a trippy club/lounge decorated in the spirit of its fictional namesake -- a hostess so mysterious, all that's known about her is her penchant for hypercolor, booze, and basements. The resplendent drinking's divvied up into three distinct zones: the marble-topped bar's abetted by three Wonderlandish couches (striped maroon, paisley yellow, pink) all hanging from the ceiling like swings, or a bit character in Oz. Just under that's a bottle-service lounge decked out with similarly festive recliners, and further out's a fully-couched-and-table'd smoking patio -- hidden from the street to protect you from the flashbulbs of the paparazzi, or the chinstrap of Surgeon General (Ret) C. Everett Coop.
Despite the onrushing opening, the full drink menu and the nightly entertainment's still TBA -- perhaps the owners are still in a deep slumber brought on by the primest cuts, the creamiest spinach, and the bleu-cheesiest wedge.
CDV's open Tues, Fri, and Sat starting tomorrow
