Hump This
800 E 3rd St, Downtown; 213.687.4444
Modestly sized and modernly designed with slick red and blonde wood walls and cooler-than-IKEA Swedish chairs, this Downtown sausage spot's serving links classic (hot or sweet Italian, bratwurst), gourmet (pesto chicken & turkey), and gamey (rattlesnake & rabbit w/jalapeno). To round things out, there's Belgian fries w/white truffle oil, 20+ dipping sauces (bleu cheese walnut & bacon, citrus ginger mayo, etc) and 33 beers, from PBR to Aventinus Eisbock -- at 13% ABV, it'll be the venom that accompanies your rattlesnake.
Also on the menu: Buffalo, Duck, and Alligator. Check all the meatiness here.Today-Fri at 1215 W Walnut St, Compton
This rock-influenced clothier's offering jackets like the military-styled Cadet for $30, plus surrealistically-arted tees for as low as $5, with graphics ranging from planes making sleeve-bound bomber runs, to a striped number with a washed-out skeleton bound to a chair, also known as The Dick Cavett.
There's a spelling error on the flier: figure out what it is hereSaturday, starting at 8am at Union Station
This year's Downtown-to-beach walking challenge runs the 18 miles of Santa Monica, starting at Union Station and ending up with an afterparty at the Brittania Pub on the corner of Third. Participants are encouraged to start at the beginning, but can technically join at any point -- so clearly, you should hop in at the 17 mile mark, then collapse in exhaustion at the finish as you thank God and your family for giving you the strength to be so awesome.

This sushi spot in the sky is delivering Thanksgiving in a roll: roasted turkey w/rice, dill & chives, wrapped in soy paper, smothered in gravy, and served alongside cranberry sauce, grilled vegetables, mashed potatoes, and a shot glass of pumpkin soup. Sadly, no word yet on pie sashimi.
Thanksgiving thinks it's turning Japanese at TakamiSushi.comThis labor-saving revolution in jolly outdoor desserts consists of a vanilla bean marshmallow dusted with cocoa powder, topped with chocolate chips, with a crunchy graham cracker interior -- an innovation so impressive, it'll almost distract fellow campers from the fact that you mail-ordered marshmallows.
