The latest from the Seven Grand/Varnish/Cole's guy is a barely-lit, fauxld-school saloon, with leather-booth-flanked tables made from 100yr-old wood, and a bar presided over by a stuffed steer, with a silly amount of boozes (including over 90 whiskeys) scrawled on wall-mounted blackboards, plus classic cocktails (Negronis, Sazeracs, etc) made from farmer's-market-fresh ingredients. For entertaining yourself, there's a pool table, a patio with ping-pong, and two encased diorama odes to Hunter Thompson full of vintage photos plus memorabilia celebrating the scribe's life (a replica of his trademark cigarette holder, a splayed out deck of playing cards, and a bottle of Wild Turkey) that aren't vintage, but possibly evidence of a gonzi scheme.

Casual organic clothiers Loomstate have completely invaded the Beverly Hills boutique, injecting it with summer via projection-screen surf vids, wall paintings of seagulls, and a display of custom boards. For the next six weeks, 9 will stock Loom's full summer line, everything from super-soft polos to color-blasted boardshorts, plus sunglasses from Encinidas Raen and watches from Nixon, who frequently use rubberized bands to eliminate the need for a break-in.
Check out the collection at Loomstate.orgSaturday at Studio 1636: 1636 Wilcox Ave, Hollywood
While downing gratis VeeV Acai Spirit/TBD brews, grab a custom screenprint from Hit and Run (free if you bring a blank tee) and peruse the works of 15 LA artists, from rock poster gurus Two Rabbits (who've done work for everyone from local boys Moving Units to Rancid), to Mark Of The Beast (notorious for corrupting corporate logos, i.e. "Pizza Slut"), to street artists Shark Toof, who'll be debuting a 6x11ft canvas decked with Great Whites, which you'll see and intone, "You're gonna need a bigger frame".

Vaunted chef Ludovic Lefebvre (Bastide, L'Orangerie) is taking over dinner duties at BreadBar with a French-influenced prix-fixe ($33 app/entree or entree/dessert, or $39 for all three), crafting whatever the hell he wants, be it rare tuna w/ beets, watermelon, tapioca pearls, and smoked vinegar; fried chicken w/ homemade pom frites; or pork ribs w/ English peas guacamole, wasabi, and "imaginary choucroute", which will enjoy your tea parties immensely and will always tell you you're pretty.
