Recover Deliciously: Michael's Genuine Food & Drink Launches Sunday Brunch

Michael's Genuine Food & Drink Launches Sunday Brunch

Michael's initial foray into brunch breaks things down via simple palate categories: Sweet (almond French toast stuffed with caramelized pears; homemade pop-tarts), Savory (wood-oven-roasted double yolk egg w/ cave-aged Gruyére & roasted tomato on sourdough crostini), Meats (grilled skirt and ham steaks), and Snacks (crispy pig ears). For thirst, there's the Genuine Bloody Mary w/ fresh-squeezed heirloom tomato juice, honey, and fresh horseradish, and a drink with Sombra Mezcal and juices like agave, fresh pineapple, cucumber, and jalapeno called the Sombrita, also what you call it when the water purifier pitcher in your fridge wears a festive hat.

Might as well see all your menu options now at MichaelsGenuine.com, as you'll be bleary on Sunday

Starting This Sun, 11am to 3pm: 130 NE 40th St, Design Dist, Miami; 305.573.5550 |

Smoke: Cigar Stub

Cigar Stub

Schemed up by two Miami cousins sick of burning their fingers while smoking stogies down to the nub, the Stub's made of anodized aluminum and stainless steel, comes in silver, black or gunmetal, and's essentially a roach clip that allows you to smoke the "sweet spot" of a cigar, or the last two inches, which you've always maintained are all you need.

Finally something to help you reach the sweet spot with your stub, at TheCigarStub.com

Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza Opens in Miami Lakes

Beloved in Broward and now making moves in Dade, ACFP uses 800-degree anthracite-coal-burning ovens to produce a simple menu with eats like oven-roasted chicken wings w/ caramelized onions, and 'za variations like the Frittata (pepper, onion, egg), the Philly Cheesesteak, and the Paul & Young Ron (hot & sweet peppers, ricotta, sausage, baby meatballs); they'll also let you pick your own toppings, which include Italian sausage, prosciutto, pepperoni, and long hot finger peppers -- eat too many and prepare for long hot trips to the men's room.

FrenchFriesForAll

Overcome FFFA's girly design to uncover a quest for the world's best French fries focusing on Miami, using a 5-potato scale to rank joints like Flanigan's ("Luckily, I only came for the alcohol because I would have probably gone postal if the sole reason for my trip was fried tubers.") and Tobacco Road ("The key to crispy and delicious French fries is frying the potatoes twice...I don't think they were fried a second time, which is why they lacked crunchy texture that I adore."). FFFA also sometimes throws in random stories, like how her friend's car broke down after they pigged out on fries at Waxy O'Connor's, and the guy who helped push the car turned out to be a p**n star, and helped even though they hadn't blown a rod.
