D. Rodriguez Cuba

James Beard Award-winning "Godfather" of Nuevo Latino cuisine Doug Rodriguez opens his eponymous new spot in the deco classic Astor Hotel tomorrow, with new, luxed-out interiors, funky tapas (empanaditas of braised spicy oxtail w/ smoked orange marmalade; tostada w/ crispy pork skin topped w/ mojo-braised pork), entrees like Arroz Imperial (layered crab meat topped with tuna loin wrapped in serrano ham, and a piquillo pepper mojo), and Crispy Skirt Steak w/ avocado & tomato chimichurri, plus drinks like the Dark & Stormy Mojito w/ Gosling's black rum and ginger beer, and a Champagne affair with Pernod and elderberry flower liqueur called the "Girlie Girlie" (in case you didn't already get that from the ingredients).
