Escape to New York
Escape to New York

Taking place on the sovereign Shinnecock Nation in Southampton, E2NY's a crazy new summer fest from the creators of the UK's Secret Garden Party, bringing the "eccentric", "lauded" and "radical" independent gathering's communal ethos stateside by using food, music, education, and interactive art to create a "pop-up community", always embarrassing when the community's for nudists. The whispered deets:

Music: On top of a smaller acoustic stage, 30-ish main acts (who may unleash impromptu performances amidst the crowd/possibly while hanging in a tree) will include unannounced headliners in line with the UK version's Phoenix and Florence & The Machine, plus buzzy outfits like Best Coast, White Rabbits, and The Vaccines, who enterprisingly stepped in once it turned out there was no Cure.

Accommodations: Hit a DIY campground outfitted with actual working toilets & showers, or opt for safari tents and tepees rocking beds, rugs, and tables, a "boutique" option they've coined "glamping", a popular activity among Motley Crues.

Food: Eff standard fair fare -- E2NY's brought the Silkstone/Fat Radish team on board to provide comestibles, set up a general store, and curate a consortium of next-level vendors to pump everything from fish & chips to a clambake, which'll be easy if everyone brings their own pot.

Other: The tip of the iceberg includes a disco tent, quick & quirky seminars on everything from politics to chaos theory, and "user generated content", which in the UK resulted in the mid-event explosion of a large pirate ship, though that's what you get when you try to steal all of the community's shaking booty.
