Best of the Best

Like a sorority girl on Halloween, this month's Best Of is dressed like other editions, only sexier.

Emailed to Austin: Critter Gitters

Critter Gitters

Based in League City, Gitters is an extreme hunting mod-shop boasting "If you can dream it, we can build it", and out to push the limits of off-road capability, hunting efficiency, and absurd comfort for a client base that ranges from South TX ranchers to the King of Dubai, even though he should probably be hunting tenants for all those office towers.

Kill stuff in ridiculous style

Emailed to San Francisco: Fanvibe

Fanvibe

From a trio of SF-based Bro-Jacksons with some pretty lofty web-dentials (ESPN, Yardbarker, Digg), Fanvibe's like Foursquare but for sporting events -- you check-in to games in-stadium or on-couch via an iPhone app, then earn mad rewards for making predictions on real-time pop-up polls (will Alex Smith throw a pick this throw or next?) or simply talking trash, though it's not immediately clear why discussions of Courtney Love garner rewards.

Trash talk your way to free stuff

Emailed to Dallas: The Linear Edge

The Linear Edge

Founded by an A&M architecture grad who was working with a high-end Dallas residential firm before going full-time dream job, Linear produces baltic-birch plywood and formica representations of dozens of racetracks around the world -- subtly gorgeous pieces the average viewer would interpret as minimalist art, but enthusiasts will recognize as...someplace in Europe they saw on Speedvision.
