People often say that laughter is the best medicine, but those people obviously haven't considered that the best medications also make you laugh. And turn your Calculus professor into a serpent-riding viking warrior. For home decor inspired by medicating laughter and straight meds, there's Dan Golden.
Spending his childhood wandering around small fishing villages in Guadalajara and communes in San Diego, Golden took the "crazy stuff" that made up his world -- and maybe took some crazy stuff himself -- and channeled it into humorous, custom-sized rugs, declaring "laughing is a lot more enjoyable than being miserable", unless you're Carrot Top, in which case they're the same thing.
Adorned with designs resembling crudely-drawn New Yorker 'toons, reintroduced highlights run from a mugger declaring "God wants me to be financially abundant", to an alien deciding "It wasn't worth it. So long suckahs!", to a diverging road with signs pointing to "Old Sh*t" and "Crazy New Sh*t", an ingenious PR campaign by the road less traveled.
For those who like their humor induced, there're also fresh designs inspired by prescrip meds, including Dr. Mario-esque alternating green and white pills for popular anti-depressants; a diamond constructed of half-cut blue pills entitled "Focus", inspired by a popular ADD med; and "Rise", diagonal rows of the little blue diamonds commonly associated with getting some rug.
The man's also rolling out a fresh collection of pillows with loads of new designs, plus classics like two hounds smoking J's next to a sign warning "Keep Dogs Off Grass" -- good advice considering there's nothing funny about someone stealing all your meds.
