Grandmothers can pass on all kinds of things, from generations-old family recipes, to heirloom furniture, to sweet, outmoded prejudice (it's not her fault she hates the Hessians). For a gear brand born of a grandmother's munificence, check out Velour.
Having just dropped their Spring collection of "feelgood preppy" swaddlings on their almost-as-recently-launched e-shop, Velour's from a Swede who's been in the game for half a decade, but was initially inspired to move into fashion after selling deadstock merch from his grandma's shuttered boutique (because stores that shut down usually have such hot product). Natty upper-duds are led by a range of 100% cotton button downs, from the short-waisted & small collared classic plaid Andrew, in alternating blue- or yellow-dominant colorways; the plain blue Craig, strikingly contrasted by a beige chest pocket/lower placket; and the uber-small-collar'd Jan, which buttons only halfway down like a hybrid henley, a moniker Don earned by ditching his car and just riding around on the coattails of classic Eagles songs. For a man's down under there're cotton/elastane chinos in three fits (narrow, loose, and 5-pocket) and 12+ colors (bohemian green, springtime brown...), while calf-bearing's handled by shorts like the super-light-blue, rolled-cuff Archie chino, and the Simon, a 5-pocket distressed jort -- hey, you'd be distressed too if you were jorts.
For extra-class there's a handful of colorful plaid ties, while brow-lowering can be achieved via tees with prints ranging from a white tee with a block of plaid in the middle, to two seated blue foxes, a breed that would still be around if it weren't for those murderous, criminally-detached-earlobed Hessians.
