The Box Butler

Though sometimes necessary, a storage unit entails the moving, packing, and expense of renting an infinitely crappier, windowless apartment. For crap keepage sans crap nuisance, try The Box Butler.

Founded by a lifelong New Yorker, BB's a scandalously inexpensive service that delivers variously sized lockable containers that, once filled, get stowed in a Jersey warehouse. Choose from among book and file totes ($10 per month), to sundries-storing wardrobes ($30 per), to units for golf clubs/bikes/snowboards -- which they'll bubble wrap, thus further protecting them from ever being used. Even more conveniently, each box's inventory is catalogued online: simply click a button to request any container's return, and BB'll deliver it within 24 hours -- quick, but long enough to reconsider actually donning those mothballed argyle pants.

Regardless of box size, standard pickups and deliveries are $18; they'll also do rush jobs for $50 during normal business hours, or $100 during abnormal business hours -- sometimes necessary, if you're actually living in Mini Storage, and need a bare, slow-swinging lightbulb to tie your unit together.
