Food: Chop Suey
Housed in a 3rd floor Times Square space, the Fatty Crab guy's new restaurant plates up pan-Asian grub like Lamb Loin Hot Pot, Pork Shoulder w/ Slow Roasted Clams, and Egg Foo-Yung-style Lobster. Sadly, there's no actual chop suey -- leaving you as disappointed as when Bubba Gump's refused to serve you Gary Sinise.
Culture: The Art of John McClane
An NYC artist who shares his name w/ the hero of Nakatomi Plaza, John McLane's offering free beer/wine at a showcase that'll include his own art ("cocktail party people and sexy future robots"), and that of six of his friends, hopefully including Special Agent Johnson. No, the other one.
Sale:: Denim and Knits' Neverending Sale
Ending its brief run as an anonymous sample sale venue, this newly-christened store's offering 50-75% off full lines of designer labels (J Brand, Citizens of Humanity, Monarchy, etc) in a sample sale the owner's decreed to be "neverending" -- like the Story, except instead of a flying dog, Atreyu will show up in a hijacked garment truck.
Culture: Fanny Packers
NYC-based FPA curates photos of offensively appareled tourists, whether they're we aring holiday sweaters, sweatpants, or, of course, fanny packs -- because where else are you gonna stash your subway map when you're flashing a peace sign outside the Virgin Megastore?
Drink: Frequent Drinker's Card
Like a frequent flyer club, this microbrew pub's recently inaugurated booze card rewards every dollar spent with "yards". Cash 'em in for prizes, from "Private Keg Party", to "Piñata Head of Yourself", to "Your Own Verb in the Bar Lexicon" -- i.e., "I'll Kevin you so hard, you'll have to move back in with your parents".
