Thrillist New York

Food: Kafana
Serbian for neighborhood restaurant, this vaguely ski-lodge-esque joint plates up pig-heavy dishes like Rolovane Suve Sljive (walnut-stuffed prunes rolled in bacon) and Karadjordjeva (pan-fried schnitzel rolled with ham), plus desserts like Zito, made from "wheat sugar nuts" (curiously, this was also Chuck's penal handle).

Gear: Chinatown Bus Kicks
A limited edition-collab between Reebok and Boston gear hideout Bodega, these classic pump hi-tops are deco'd with the NY-Beantown bus route embossed on the ankle collar, and sold with a carrying case packed w/ good luck charms, which you'll cling to desperately as your Fung Wa tumbles off an on-ramp.
Culture: Tool Art
Danger up your walls with these affordable, laser-cut cardboard weapons (hand grenades, flintlock rifles), dead objects (VHS tapes, broken bottles), and woodshed tools -- radial saws, ring spanners, and other things you use slightly less often than VHS tapes and broken bottles.

Drink: Free Beer Fridays
On Fridays this summer, let your friends know you're drinking at a participating bar via this cell/smartphone social networking service, and you'll also receive a texted receipt. Show it to the bartender and get free drafts until the end of the promotion -- or until it's proven that the worst way to get free drinks is to tell a social network to come impede your acquisition of free drinks.
Check this flyer for free drinking info, and direct your cell phone to MeetNowLive.com
Culture: Trash Map
Click a number on this photo map to see each NY hood's perfectly appropriate detritus, e.g., #2 (McDonald's in clear bags, Midtown), #8 (smashed guitar, Bushwick), and #15 (suits in a trashcan, Williamsburg -- evidence the wearers went native and now traipse around in indigenous skinny-pant codpieces).
