From the pasta guru behind Cacio e Pepe, this UES trattoria's serving up homestyle Italian (buffalo mozzarella, lavender-crusted swordfish steak) in a setting dramatically decked out with black chandeliers and green-lacquered floors that look straight out of Emerald City (Downtowners: click your heels three times, and repeat "there's no place like below 14th Street").

Beer Island and BBQ Truck

Opened last month serving dogs only for grub, this outdoor domestic-suds shack's just wheeled out its own BBQ truck, paper-plating up KC-style staples like pulled pork/chicken, brisket, and chicken ribs, all prepped by a former Jean-Georges and Blue Smoke chef. Some might call his new gig a downgrade, but you can't beat that cool Island lifestyle.
