Grooming: FSC Barber

FSC Barber

From Freemans Sporting Club, this 8-chair shop's decked in Gilded Age tonsorial chic (vintage leather chairs, reclaimed Appalachian wood floors, etc), and offers same-priced Club services (shaves, haircuts, trims...) plus a new Hangover Remedy (rose water wash, hot eucalyptus towel, eye cream, shoulder massage). They also purvey grooming products, including mammoth-tusk-handled straight razors inlaid w/ Stanhopes -- late 19th-century nudie-photo'd peepholes, as if a knife at your throat wasn't enough to get your blood flowing.

PetalBelle

From the family behind Lombardi's, this well-lit, vintage French-wallpapered sleeve curates foodstuffs from local faves (fruit danishes from Balthazar, bread from Sullivan Street Bakery), but specializes in homemade "lieges": traditional Belgian waffles baked with yeast-leavened flour and a wide-grain Scandinavian sweetener some call "pearl sugar", and others "NĂ¼tra Sweet".
