Sascha Petraske's latest, Star's a 3-room railroad of a joint ornately decorated w/ marble bar, black leather banquettes, and the eponymous Moroccan light fixtures. Petraske himself'll be behind the bar pouring boutique scotches/tequilas/microbrews, but he's eschewing shakers and juice to concentrate on traditional auto verseurs absinthe service and vintage liquor combos, e.g., scotch and soda, and the champagne/absinthe cocktail inspired by Hemingway's bullfighting book "Death in the Afternoon" -- because only a de classe establishment would mix a "Gored in the Gonads".

This just-outside-NYC artist is hawking three pop-cult-inspired prints: Happy Flight, featuring a haloed Almighty triumphantly riding Falcor; The Crucifixition of Jareth, depicting the death of Bowie's Labrynth Goblin King; and The Surrender, depicting Washington's victory over the British -- though Washington's riding a triceratops, the Continental Army's composed of Robocop, Fonzie, and Kool-Aid, and the British = Osama, Hamas, and Cobra Commander. So basically, it's historically spot-on.
