The List

Food: Rickshaw Dumplings Expands

53 E 8th St, between University and Broadway; 212.461.1750

Going beyond beef/pork/indeterminate, Rickshaw's second location serves up plump goodness like Chicken & Thai Basil and Peking Duck, plus salads, soups, and the surprisingly tasty "watermelonade"; among the burgeoning franchise's fans are Martha Stewart, who, as a withered Connecticut jailbird, is quite the authority on Asian street food.

Gear: Tourneau Sale

Sep 15-20 at 317 W 33rd St, between 8th and 9th

Up to 70% off high-end wristwear from brands like Hamilton, Hermes, Montblanc, and TAG Heuer. Many of the timepieces are new, though some are pre-owned (apparently, punctuality's no match for a nimble-fingered repo man).

Food/Drinks: The Australian

20 W 38th St, between 5th and 6th; 212.869.8601

Pubbing up the mostly-desolate garment district, this Down Under joint pours Aussie draughts (Cooper's Brewery, Black Wattle Superior) plus indigenous grub like Kangaroo Sate Sticks and the egg/beet/bacon-topped Australian Burger. It's not on the menu, but if you smile at your waiter, expect to be handed a vegemite sandwich.

Gear: Earnest Sewn Storefront

90 Orchard St, at Broome; 212.979.5120

Opening in a former LES speakeasy, Earnest's first retail store offers their full line of durable, classic-styled denim, from the straight-cut "Fulton", to the boot-cut "Hutch", to the full-leg "Hemingway" -- a far manlier style than the half-leg Richard Simmons "Jort".

Services: Signal Map

This nationwide map plots user-reported cell strengths for the four major carriers: Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon (no Boost -- sorry, dog). A skull means a dead zone, i.e., no activity at all, outside of desultory USA Network employees pasting Anthony Michael Hall's face onto the wall of a fetid subway.
