Gear: Motorcycle Federation

Motorcycle Federation

From a Harley-riding quintet offended by crotch rocketeers "dressed as Ninja Turtles", this just-opened, concrete-floored sleeve's peddling helmets (Ruby's open-faced Euro headwear, Nolan's off-road gear, etc), leather jackets w/ homemade details, and premium jackets from Euro labels Dainese and Benjamin Button clothiers Belstaff. The Fed's also pouring Illy coffee, beaming free wi-fi, and screening classic flicks like On Any Sunday, and soon hopes to open a full-bar'd outdoor cafe (because if the West Village needs anything, it's more drunk guys in chaps).

Gear: Fright Rags

Fright Rags

Straight out of Rochester, this e-depot's hawking tees and hoodies arted up w/ homemade art inspired by horror flicks, ranging from early masterpieces (Nosferatu), to 70s landmarks (Zombi 2's Zombie vs. Shark scene, Halloween), to 80s schlock, including They Live's "Obey" logo, and a pic of Fright Night's Stephen Geoffreys, whose odd career trajectory peaked with the ultimate horror, 1998's Halfway House Hunks.

PadMapper

Just enter an addy in this HousingMaps-like Craigslist/GMap mashup to see nearby pads for rent, w/ the option to filter by methods both typical (max/min rent, # of BRs, cats/dogs, sublets, etc) and atypical, e.g., max commute time to work, which uses a surprisingly complex formula including walk time to subway, subway travel time, and walk time to work, but doesn't cover buses -- because then it would have to factor in "hoisting self out of dumpster time".
