Fred Perry's Boutique

133 Wooster St, between Prince and Houston; 212.260.4770

Because America's the world's largest culture market, Brits from the Beatles to Pierce Brosnan have made it their first foreign conquest -- so what makes you so special, Fred Perry? Finally showing up on our shores, a Fred Perry brick & mortar.

A Tetris-shaped sleeve peddling almost the entire line of Fred's preppy tennis-themed swag, this is the first stateside boutique for the globe-spanning English label, who've apparently spent the past 57 years fretting "But remember what they did to our tea!". The strikingly affordable gear runs the gamut, from three-button polos w/ contrasting cuffs, to v-neck argyle lambswool sweaters, to wool zip-front bombers, to track jackets w/ concealed hoods -- if you're really fast, deploy it emergency-parachute style. Fred's also rocking leather goods (wallets, shoulder bags and duffels, etc) plus low-top sneaks, e.g., contrast cuff leather plimsolls, and tennis shoes strapped thrice with Velcro (which is actually a combo of two French words coined by a Swiss dude -- break yo' mind!).

Beyond basics, Fred's also slinging select items (polos, argyle vests, etc) from their higher end line, Laurel, all sewn entirely in the UK -- fine, keep your seamstresses, but Brosnan is ours.
