Underground beneath Jacques, this stone-walled, almost-too-date-friendly fondue basement sports a six-seat bar plating cheese and charcuterie, chalkboard menus, murals of drinking revelers, and floor-length communal farmhouse tables for slurping three dipping dishes: Savoyarde (Swiss, Gruyere, & Comte cheese), Bourguignonne (sliced hangar steak in beef bouillon w/ two dipping sauces), and Valrhona chocolate w/ cream puffs or fresh fruit. Drinks-wise, Cave serves three draughts (Leffe Blonde, Bass, Stella) and six wines which, as at Montmartre's Le Refuge des Fondus, are served in actual baby bottles -- so even if your date doesn't succumb to the power of melted stuff, you still get nipple.
