Thrillist New York

By Robert James

Former Target designer James has opened a white-walled retail sleeve -- rustic'd up w/ gilded mirrors, vintage sconces, etc -- to hawk hand-printed graphic tees fusing pop culture and not-pop history, like a Viking helmet scrawled w/ "Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Booty", or an African tribesman captioned "Extinct Hipster". Heavier garb runs from plaid button-downs w/ four-button cuff plackets to asymmetrically zipping military-style jackets, all inspired by "the 1960s and 19th Century" -- for that rarely accomplished Fort Sumter of Love look.
