Eschewing the cavernous space and hopefully the even emptier inhabitants of the Midtown original, GHD's a rare happy medium between multi-story sports bar and comfortable neighborhood hang, rocking over a dozen flat screens, cozy seafaring decor interspersed w/ plush red banquettes, a pool lounge, and private party room. A solid selection of standard drafts (Bass, Guinness, Sam...) and a hefty spread of Irish whiskeys abet the menu, which includes hearty bar grub like wings and burgers, plus more authentic fare like fish & chips, an Irish breakfast, and the sherry mushroom-sauced Hooker Chicken, suggesting the infamous Civil War general was even kinkier than first thought.
