Southern Europe comes to Lincoln Park

Many Americans have a hard time picking their favorite European country, but who can blame them when the only real difference is how they tenderly satisfy our women. Tenderly satisfying you with pan-Euro bites and vino, Vintage 338.

Modeled after the intimate, streamlined wine bars found in the urban centers of southern Europe, V338 blends distinct elements of French, Spanish, and Italian food & wine into a cozy 35-seat nook centered around a mosaic-tiled six-seat bar featuring rows of bottles displayed on the wall -- take one down, pass it around, and they'll probably kick you out. The menu's heavy on snack-friendly small plates like Tuscan white bean dip w/ toasted pine nuts & rosemary oil, a trio of warmed bries, prosciutto-wrapped grilled asparagus, and Spanish piquillo peppers stuffed with goat cheese and orange zest, also an ingredient in Soap-apillas. Sandwiches also hop around, from a Serrano ham & Manchego cheese, to a pesto mayo-slathered ciabatta roll with herb marinated chicken & mesculin mix, to a crispy prosciutto/Bibb lettuce/fresh mozz P.L.T., which Michael Jackson wanted to love until he discovered the lettuce wasn't actually wearing a bib.

Sauce-wise the 20-strong wine list emphasizes hard to find yet affordable selections from France, Spain and Italy; they also plan to host a tight selection of bottled beers and hooch -- choose your favorite, as any one you pick will lead you to tenderly not satisfy your woman.
