AC Gears

Ever since you pined in vain for Super Mario 12 (only on Super Famicom), you've suspected the Japanese were hoarding the best technology. Well, of course. But pine no more: AC Gears, opening Saturday.Thrillist - AC GearsThe debut boutique for Japanese gadget importer Audiocubes.com, AC'll host the site's sweetest audio, electronics, and accessories (like Radio Shack, but not staffed by people who got fired from Kinkos for stealing). Audio's best represented, with formerly Nippon-only goods like droplet-shaped waterproof speakers, Transformer-themed MP3 players, and over 30 types of headphones, from "casual" buds to DJ-quality professional over-ears -- hermetically sealed to allow blissful appreciation of "Do They Know it's Christmas?", while blocking out subway Reggaeton/you singing along with "Do They Know It's Christmas??". AC also stocks a variety of non-audio tech, from candy-colored PSPs, to Geordi La Forge-like video glasses, to USB-warmed slippers that'll reward your dog's loyalty with a lethal jolt of electricity. AC also hawks supra-geekery, highlighted by the DIY Akazawa PLEN Desktop Hobby Robot -- which, once built, performs lifelike tricks like rollerskating, and pining for its creator to get a Super Fami-Life.
