Play Creatively: The OddBall

The OddBall

Don your Jesper-est plaid pants and invade the New Children's Museum for this charitable mini-golf extravaganza, where you'll hear live jams from DJ Saul Q and Smile Now Cry Later, feast on grub from TABE gastro truck, and play nine-holes with limitless margaritas, beer and wine, or what John Daley refers to as "nine holes".

Metal Gear's Solid: Modern Rebellion

Modern Rebellion

The head-banging lead singer from SD's own Grammy-nominated As I Lye Dying has just released a line of fittingly (but not fitted!) metal tees, including "Astronaut" with a grimacing space-walker shedding a glove to reveal a tessellated hand, "Doom Box" with an old school blaster sporting speaker-skulls, and a black joint with a diagonally-rainbow'd skull (a la Aladdin Sane) called "Bowie", possibly the result of David challenging Jim for rights to their last name.

They also have a metal heart, and are donating 50% of their proceeds to clean-water-providing non-profit Trees of Glory. Check out all the shred-worthy designs, at ThirdDegreeMerch.com

Engorge: Phil's BBQ San Marcos

Phil's BBQ San Marcos

Phil's second location's a similarly decor'd (stone walls, campy signs) affair dishing out the same award winning 'que like a Full Rib Dinner (in Baby Back or Beefy), and BBQ Broham sandwich (char-grilled, pulled pork shoulder with cole slaw/BBQ sauce), with the addition of a full liquor license allowing them to serve frozen margaritas, sangria, and the half and half Sangrita: perfect for people who can't make up their mind, but also don't care about it pounding the next day.

Hunt the Dead: Whaley House Ghost Hunting Tour

Whaley House Ghost Hunting Tour

On this special, two-off late-night paranormal investigation of the country's #1 ranked (according to The Travel Channel) haunted house, you'll explore the manor's disturbing past (from criminal lynchings on the site before the house was built, to Violet Whaley's suicide in 1885) while learning about paranormal investigation techniques/tools from The San Diego Ghost Hunters, who look cool now, despite totally being the kind of kids who got Ouija'd in highschool.

The Travel Channel can tell no lies, so grab your tix to this undeniably haunted event before they sell out at WhaleyHouse.org
