It's hard to feel neighborhood pride when you don't know whether you live in Mid-Wilshire, or the Miracle Mile, South Carthay, or Carthay Circle (and all you do know is that you live above some guy's garage). Proudly nail down your home locale, with local shirts from Y Que.
Y Que's on a mission to rep custom designs for every 'hood in the greater LA area, specific to the point that if you were to get them delivered, your mailman wouldn't even need a zip code. Already in-store are American-Apparel-printed numbers featuring Boyle Heights (a cartoonish mariachi); Vernon (a man running from pigs, with the tagline "meat don't pack itself"); and Burbank -- a silhouette of three people waving from their perch atop a plane, as opposed to the more realistic scenario of sitting impatiently atop a baggage carousel. For boyz, your 'hood gets a ready-to-shoot gun repping South Central, while hipsters can grab a diver splashing into Silverlake; meanwhile, a banana will inform people that you're proud of West Hollywood, and a statue of David'll do the same for Hancock Park (for accuracy, get 18 friends with the same shirt and stand in a semi-circle).
In-store visitors can also cook up their hood's own identity by mixing and matching clip art (fleur-de-lis, stars, poodles, etc); soon Y Que will offer an expanded version of this service online -- so you won't have to worry about leaving your wherever-you-are sanctum, and getting backed over by that guy's Bronco.
Some of the designs are available to order on the still-in-progress local page at YQue.com; call or stop by to make your own
