New Orleans is famous for its unique cuisine, an inventive music scene, and for eccentric denizens who pride themselves on hunting homeless combat veterans for sport preserving cherished traditions. Doing Van Damme-age to your gut via Bourbon Street eats, Le Bon Ton Roule.

Opened in the former Treehouse space by a longtime Lowell's vet (fresh from helping open a Big Easy resto) this low-ceiling'd "juke joint" is serving up locally sourced Nawlins-inspired grub in an eat space dominated by two polished wood/mirror-backed bars, and planning to use the parking lot for traditional crawfish boils, as they lack a Zy-deck-o. For now they've got a limited menu featuring apps (the fried shrimp/ oysters/ French fries Holy Trinity, roast beef debris topped Dirty Fries), and a mess of Po' Boys like the pulled pork Cochon de Lait, and the fried shrimp/ oysters/ Creole coleslaw/ remoulade Machine Gun, which somehow managed to get a shot at Maria Sharapova. To get le bon times really rouling there's a big list of Nawlins-themed 'tails ranging from the Parfait Amour Liqueur/ Grand Marnier/ vodka Purple Drank, to a classic Hurricane w/ rum, more rum & passion fruit, to an absinthe/ Champagne Death In The Afternoon, and the gin/ absinthe/ vermouth Obituary, which presumably described the previous drink as "going down smooth".

They've got future plans for an expanded dinner menu, plus the aforementioned crawfish boils, but in the meantime LBTR's honoring the past with eats from its Treehouse days like a sauerkraut/ Swiss/ Thousand Island-topped Reuben, and a burger topped w/ a fried egg and ham glazed with Barq's Root Beer -- a 'wich that can be replaced, though topping it would be a Hard Target.
