Iron Hill Brewery

Everything's better straight from the source, like water from a natural spring, apples from the orchard, and sectional sofa sets from Fortunoff! Get craft beers direct, at Iron Hill Brewery.

Finally done tugging copper vats across the Delaware, Iron's newly opened Maple Shade brewstaurant is slinging made-in-house suds and plating edible goodies from a ridiculously comprehensive menu in a mahogany-decked, 280-seat space with 15' ceilings and a bar that spans the entire length, opposite a string of banquette window tables offering picturesque views of some of Jersey's finest jughandles. A 10-draft system pours a rotating cast of Iron's seasonal ales, like Black IPA, German Hefeweizen, and Belgian Witbier, along with standards from Vienna Red Lager and Ironbound Ale, to Raspberry Wheat and Pig Iron Porter, which is described as chocolate-y, yet slightly bitter -- probably because its name's sullied every time Kyle Kendrick pitches for the Phils' Triple-A affiliate. Food includes salmon, Tex-Mex, or cheesesteak egg rolls, hearth-baked pizzas, six inspired burger iterations (Smoke House w/ smoked gouda, barbecued onions & bacon; Blue Cheese w/ truffled mushroom duxelle), a slew of sandwiches (eg, house-smoked pulled pork in Memphis-style BBQ sauce), and entrées like Louisiana barbecued shrimp, and linguine-bedded Rosemary chicken & "exotic" mushrooms, which explains that wacky baby of hers.

Although Iron only bottles a handful of small-batch specialty brews in limited numbers each year, they've got a mechanism that fills growlers without losing any carbonation or introducing any oxygen -- so you can get the taste of the brewpub while at home, then flip a latch and keep it chilled in your velour armrest/built-in cooler.
