Organ-ize: Transplant

Transplant

Hit JOG Saturday evening to throw back comp'd vino and Victory suds as you marvel at Ron Johnson's paintings (which draw inspiration from photographs of shadows) and the sculpture work of Steven Earl Weber, including a series of anatomically correct ceramic human organs slapped with appropriate/cynical branding, like the Nike-swoosh-emblazoned heart on a swatch of AstroTurf dubbed "The Athlete With The Most Heart", "Marlboro Lungs", and another heart dangling from a gold chain, draped in signature Burberry plaid you'll deem "The Shopper With The Most Credit Cards".

Because you've always had a fascination with organs -- certain ones, at least -- check out the goods at JamesOliverGallery.com

Sat, Oct 24, 6-9pm at James Oliver Gallery: 723 Chestnut St; 4th Fl (above Morimoto); 267.918.7432 |

Fall Cocktail Menu at the Franklin

Undertaking the Herculean effort of outdoing themselves, the mixology staffers at the Prohibition-era speakeasy-esque Franklin've revamped their already highly-touted cocktail menu, doubling the original 21-drink selection by introducing 41 new hand-crafted concoctions, from the gin/dry vermouth/Grand Marnier "Baron" and the bourbon, dry & sweet vermouth, and Peychaud's bitters "Kensington", to the blanco tequila/mezcal/blanc vermouth "Conquistadora" and the aged rum/sweet vermouth/Campari/cane "Pirate Slave", delicious enough to have you racking up a hefty barrrr tab.

Eat: Marrakesh Express (now closed)

Marrakesh Express

A casual 32-seater (w/ take-out) decked out in traditional Marrakesh red-and-yellow walls lined w/ picturesque photos of various Moroccan cities, Express turns out tagines of braised chicken w/ green olives & saffron or lamb simmered w/ herbs & caramelized onion, as well as grilled eats available as sandwiches or platters, from Merguez (Moroccan lamb sausage), to slow-roasted Shawarma, to ground beef Kefta seasoned Moroccan-style (being a desert, that means summer).

Joe to Go: HubBub Coffee Truck

HubBub Coffee Truck

Settin' up on the Penn campus for now, HubBub's a fire engine red food truck jacked-out as a mobile cafe pouring Stumptown coffee and espresso blends, as well as a wide selection of cold bevvies, from iced tea/java to lemonade, while serving up pastries like cinnamon rolls, cookies, and muffin tops, meaning there's officially now no reason to visit Drexel.
