When thinking of the French, the mind turns to buttery cooking, sophisticated racism, and sweet, sweet adultery. Don't forget snazzy swim gear, from Pull-In.
Just opened on Melrose, Pull-In's first West Coast outlet is a tiny, all-black shop packed with swimsuits from its namesake French parent company (storming our shores...with style!). Shorts come in four progressively shorter models: first, there's the 97% polyester/3% spandex knee-covering boardshorts, then the trunk-like "Suns", followed by the James Bond-ish, loosely nuthugging polyester/lycra "Copacabanas", and the "Shorty", whose snugness in some jurisdictions constitutes sexual assault. Though some patterns are downplayed solids, most are more adventurous: pin-up girls, Euro-rave temptresses ("Ibiza"), American flags, strawberries, Hawaiian flower prints, blingy casino signs, and pirate flags (for beneath them lurks Blackbeard.).
Pull's also got some shirts and button-ups, plus a large selection of eye-catching socks and underwear, the fiercest of which is "Fashion Dragon": mythic beasts so terrifying, they'll prevent adultery by scaring off even the butteriest of tarts.
