At FiveTen Studio; 831 Broadway Ave, near 9th; Oakland; 510.451.9900
These crazy-unique, abnormally-shaped turntables're cut from single pieces of redwood/walnut burl, then fitted with detachable ebonized stands, and pro-quality components (including Rega or Origin Live arms). Made by a carpenter-turned-fine artist in Oakland, they'll run you a grand or more -- which'll seem a small price to pay once you're the lone master of the Wheels of Burl.

Just in time for breezy Tournament viewing, the downtown mainstay's sweetening its lavish, four-54" flatscreened patio by offering their full Venetian/Cali menu on it. Complete a bracket online, and stop by anytime Thursday for a free Peroni; finish in the top three and score a generous dining certificate, which is also what the winners of the NIT get.

Mondays from 8-10am, the Mission roastery/cafe's handing you no-questions-asked free French-pressed coffee (African, Indonesian, South American...) in a modest bid to say "FU recession". The joe-motion lasts until 4/20, at which point their recession stance becomes more of a recession recline-on-couch.
This Thu at the Sir Francis Drake; 450 Powell St, at Sutter; Union Square; 415.395.8595
Hit the opulent Starlight Room for the first of many monthly parties featuring still more downturn drinks specials, e.g., a brown-bagged PBR plus a shot of chartreuse for $7, and the equally cheap Jack/Triple Sec/Red Bull "Stimulus" drink. Accompanying house music's spun by DJs Bells & Whistles, Cotk, and Limacon, who named himself for a heart-shaped geometric curve, not the popular gathering of Peruvian ex-pats.
