DWNTWN

The most impressive offerings often come in the smallest packages, like a pricey engagement ring, and your heredity that that ring's gonna totally make up for! Doin' it up big with streetwear n' skate gear in the smallest of spaces, DWNTWN.

High-end boutique meets classic skateshop at diminutive DWNTWN, a 150 square foot, hardwood-floored n' sticker-plastered purveyor of streetwear and skate-cessories launched by a dude who's done everything from copyediting for Thrasher, to running an online shred publication called 48 Blocks, to game testing for Sega, so please direct all your "when the eff is Kid Chameleon 2 coming out"-related questions to him. DWNTWN's meticulously selected threads range from graphic tees and accessories designed locally with childlike flare by Benny Gold, to rugged cut and sew by NYC's 10 Deep, to boldly branded hoodies and crewnecks by Boston's RAW -- gear so hard, it had to come from -- wait. Boston's RAW? And debuting over the course of the next week's an original collection of sweatshirts, tees, and caps that bear graphics like planes flying over SF (a show of solidarity for their opening date, 9/11), the neat and tidy 48 Blocks logo, and DWN stacked on top of TWN done in fat tag, which is really just a clever ploy by your mom to make you feel comfortable with your shirt off at the pool.

There's more: DWNTWN's also hosting a Bay Area skate park via BART tour, departing the shop at 11am this Sunday, with best best trick and product giveaways. It all ends at Portrero Del Soul with a free BBQ bash, so you can prove the other half of things: that the least impressive things come in XXXL packages.
