Headline Shirts

A wise rock vocalist once said, "It's such a fine line between stupid an'...", after which an even wiser bass player said, "and clever". Straddling that line with authority, Headline Shirts.

Armed with a relaunched and constantly updated website, SF's own Headline's "chinchilla-soft" cotton tees make deft and playful commentary on everything from biblical lore to muzak. Political riffs are a mainstay, including "I Hammer/Sickle the 80s"; the US Capitol defiled with neon stripper and "CHECKS CASHED" signage; and Kim Jong-il "joined the axis of evil group on Facebook" ("Tear down that Wall!"). Others nerd out on Silicon Valley excess (a bowl brimming with 0s and 1s, flanked by a razor blade in "I Do Mass Quantities of Code") and web publishing, e.g., "I Like Wikipedia Cuz It Lets You Make Stuff Up", flanked by the silhouette of a winged kangaroo -- or wingroo, bred for its skills in keeping Jimmy Wales in Bentleys.

The most winsome shirts are somehow the most disturbing, like "Ready 2 Rot" (GNR's band-members-on-a-cross replaced by smiley fruit & veggie heads), a cockroach and a cowboy-booted Twinkie sipping bubbly as they toast "See You In Hell!" -- a place some imagine as bright with flames, and others see as "none more black".
