Continuing the proud Nottingham tradition of inspirational outlaw -- but thankfully not vending tights -- is Street Market, an e-shop from a Nott-ite who, spurred by his own city's illicit graffiti scene, now sells tees promoting up-and-coming street artists of all ilk. Some of the troublemakers he's championing:
Rum Knuckles: Named for the Hackney artist's great uncle -- a Royal Navy boxer in WWII -- Knuckles delights in covering iconic figures with tattoos, e.g., Elvis's visage entirely replaced by prison ink, and Snow White as a stripper whose bum is covered with tats instead of the traditional stripper garnish, snow white.
WOWCH: This Brooklyn outfit "painstakingly hand-collages" shirts featuring oft-bizarre animal hybrids, such as the snake/eagle "Sneagle", and a fluffy cat whose human hands point a Desert Eagle, an exhibition of "Pussy Power" that will get you laid...to rest! Cats are awesome.
Oh and They Also Have Prints: Wall adornments stretch from "Tattoo Flash" from Cali's Timber! (a plethora of lumber-related skin designs), to a collab w/ Brit artist Greg Abbott, whose limited-ed, ornately decorated skull utters the words "Your laughter is all I'm after", which, if true, is a pretty good excuse for wearing tights.
