Around since before most of the Old Town crowd was even born, Orso’s swings for an old world Italian elegance with its elaborate carved wood and many chandeliers. The food is pure Chicago Italian, with bowls of drowned gnocchi and plates of chicken vesuvio giving diners a welcome respite from the rash of trendier options throughout the neighborhood.
