The Annie Café & Bar

Café Annie was reopened to celebrate chef Robert Del Grande’s 35-year milestone of cooking in Houston. The menu is a shrine to Southwestern cuisine; slow-smoked beef enchiladas with cotija and cabbage slaw sit side-by-side with chicken-fried steak and skewered quail, one of the Uptown restaurant’s most beloved dishes, which comes wrapped in crispy bacon that nimbly clings to the succulent meat and is paired with jalapenos, buttermilk sauce and molasses, and cornbread muffins. For dessert, the brown butter walnut tart is brightened with lemon curd and golden raisin rice pudding. Enjoy your meal in a dining room bedecked with vibrant pop art on its subtle wood-paneled walls.
