Thrillist Washington DCAttitude doesn't help in every situation: label execs might see green in an unknown musician's swagger, but no matter a matador's preening, bulls pretty much just see red. Hoping the streetwear world appreciates his strut: the guy behind Clockwise Clothing.
Clockwise is a fresh collection of DC-made tees designed and peddled by a JMU-grad whose online hub proclaims him a "creative monster, fashion addict, and entrepreneur", and whose work encompasses "A Mindset. A Lifestyle. A Culture." -- all that aside though, he's a good person to turn to for A T-Shirt. Text-based action includes the hip-hopping area-shout "Run DMV", which "kickstarted the brand & for that reason will forever be a classic"; a logo'd joint with the above "A Mindset..." catchphrase; and one with glow-in-the-dark ink spelling "Business Never Sleeps" (and must be reminded of that even when there's no nightlight). Graphic t's include "Dope", with a cartoonish hand opening a Ziplock; "King of Pop", a wholly un-ironic MJ tribute; and "Fist", with DC's bars & stars superimposed on a raised fist, signifying that to tap its "soul, energy, and overlooked talent", the District must unite (and tell Daniel Snyder enough with the overpriced talent?).
Like any good street-preneur, Clockwise also maintains a lively blog, with posts, pics, and vids on everything from hot beats, to hot girls, to wild nunchuck-ing: one area where overconfidence can definitely come back to slap you in the face.
