JJ's Cheesesteaks

DC's rivalry with Philadelphia is historic and bitter, and while we eventually wrestled away the title of "Nation's Capital", we've long envied their infinitely more esteemed moniker: "Sandwich Capitol". Helping to steal even more brotherly thunder: JJ's Cheeseteaks.

From a crew of Jersey transplants, JJ's is a perfectly located, yellow-walled, counter-order sandwich nook serving up a host of fat bread-missiles in a transparent attempt to usurp most of Philadelphia's remaining pride (next stop: baseball). Notables include the Whizzed-on "The Ben Franklin", with extra lean rib eye, onions and provolone; the marinated chicken/provolone "Liberty Bell"; and the turkey ham/bologna/salami/provolone/house dressing "Balboa Italian Hoagie", clearing things up for anyone who thought Rocky was Dutch. DC get's its own compliment of heroes as well, like "The Capitol" (steak/onions/mushrooms topped w/ pizza sauce and mozzarella); the chicken steak/onions/American cheese "All American"; and the "famous" chunk tuna salad "Potomac" (so now, a river runs through you).

Located deep in bar territory, JJ's is open diabolically late (11am to an hour after last call), helping you to earn that one title you've tried so hard avoid: "Fatty Mobatty".
