Thrillist Washington DCNow too big and hairy for its old home/the month of July, the 36th annual Scot-fest moves to Labor Day weekend at VA's Great Meadow: two days of red-bearded revelry, including a massive Newcastle/Guinness pub tent, folk music, meat pies and lamb sausages, and a first-ever antique car show (Scottish affiliation unknown). As always, the highlight's watching top-ranked Highland Game athletes competing in 7 events, including the "stoneput", the pitchfork-wielding "sheaf toss", the "caber toss", and the "hammer toss", like the caber toss, except that contestants forgo kilts for the more traditional, sparkly parachute pants.
