Eat: Taylor Gourmet II

Opening Friday; 485 K Street NW; Chinatown

The H Street favorite brings its counter-service deli/gourmet market/booze delivery operation to the NW with this cement-floor pitstop, where a 16ft garage door opens up to a main dining room lit by steel-chain suspended oil drum light fixtures. The menu's got the full complement of Taylor's trademark, Philly-inspired hoagies, chicken cutlet sandwiches, and salads, like the arugala/pastini/crimini mushroom “Roosevelt Park”, the prosciutto/roasted red pepper/sharp provolone “Schuylkill Expressway”, and the broccoli rabe/sharp provolone “Broad Street” -- eat here too much, and that'll be the only street you can live on.
