Prix fixe meals are the flagship of fine dining, but their excessive price dictates that your staple three-courser consist of burger, fries, and soda (or, if you just got paid, shake). Feast grandly for less, at 15.
Decked out with hardwood floors and leather high-back chairs, this Echo Park New American-staurant serves up a gourmet prix-fixe for just $15 -- more than you can find between your couch cushions, but less than your couch. Start with an app ranging from tomato bisque to gruyere+goat cheese+white cheddar+swiss mac; main courses cover everything from a gruyere burger to seared salmon over fresh mango, while dessert is chef's choice (often the chocolate croissant bread pudding -- each ingredient unhealthy in its own right, but together, enough fat to rule the world). Wash down this trifecta with 18 wines, bottled beers, or mixed drinks like the Rican Rita (Patron, Gran Marnier, lime, sweet & sour) and the rum-less Strong Island -- drink three, and it'll take a Nation of Millions to Hold Your Hair Back.
Of course, there's a catch: the special's available only from 5-6:30pm (Mon-Sat), after which the regular menu kicks in. Thankfully, In N' Out's open 'til 1.
