Mishka Fall/Winter Collection

The sweetest retro stuff is that which looks to the future with adorable inaccuracy -- only in the 70s and early 80s could we imagine a hero overcoming both a vast evil empire and a crippling bowl cut. For gear that evokes that awesome optimism, Mishka.

An underground streetwear outfit whose name comes from the Russian for "bearcub", Mishka's just released Skyway Trippers line is inspired by "intergalactic themes and progressive design" -- and, probably, drugs. The main focus is outerwear and technical jackets like the black horn buttoned, flannel lined, sky-captain-styled Skyway Wool Overcoat; the windproof Spetsnaz Tech Jacket with a snow guard, taped seams, underarm vents, and a breathable and fully waterproof body that can handle up to 10,000mm of pressure; and the 70s ski-jacket-ish, Teflon-coated Cosmic Freeze Puffy Bubble -- also the beverage of choice among hep-cat Tokyo teens. Mishka also hawks Japanese selvage jeans in black or indigo; for totally cosmic layering, there're button downs like the Wood Goblin flannel w/ fully quilted padded lining, and sweaters like Man/Machine; in red&black, it features an elaborate call-out to what're either Russian cosmonauts, or Kraftwerk -- whose own vision of the future we blew by even before they broke up.

For the noggin, Mishka's got custom New Era caps and old-school winter "pom" hats; the sweetest tee's the Overfiend, sporting a large-scale "Target Earth"-style space assault against robotic foes, which is silly because we've got to ally with the robots if we're ever going to defeat the C.H.U.D.
