Offering an eclectic range of goods helps you appeal to a diverse spectrum, though to be fair, that's stolen almost verbatim from the commentary section of The Wire's season three DVD. For grub that could sate even the pickiest pregnant Brazilian bodybuilder, UChef, now open.
Situated in the old Burritos on Fire spot, UChef's a cozy mishmash of a Brazilian bakery, pizzeria, and a health drinkery, all sitting in a yellow/orange corner space featuring six window-counter seats and a self-service condiment station -- though you never wear those things anyw-- oh, condiments? Right. Specialty gourmet pizzas include the white sauce'd Ipanema topped w/ three cheeses, chicken, and sweet corn; one with chicken, mushroom, and a strogonoff sauce; the Newport (shrimp, basil, and garlic); the Copacabana (Calabresa sausage and mozzarella, music and fashion); and the Cancun, which is topped by grilled chicken, buffalo sauce, bleu cheese, and thanks to the size of its Senor Frogs, Myrtle Beach. There's also deliciousness like traditional Brazilian lunches (beef with rice/beans, fried egg, and plantains), grilled cheeses, breaded hot dogs, beef pies, and 1/2-lb burgers to go along with steak bombs, and a special cheese/palm heart turnover, but only because cheese/palm hearts snore when on their back.
If you prefer to get weirder, UChef rocks a crazy selection of breads/cakes/desserts (Bavarian cream sweet rolls, Cueca Virada, Yucca/coconut cake), 100% pulp juices (Cupucu, Guava, Caju), and post-workout fitness drinks like the Acai pulp, Red Bull, and strawberry'd Acai Bomb with "Super Pump", which apparently delivers "skin tearing pumps", though to be fair, that's stolen almost verbatim from Sex and the City 2.
