Trying where others have failed can result in a better product...unless you hire the guy who directed The Transporter 2 to direct...the Transporter 3! Leaving Louis Leterrier out at their new joint, the team behind Mahon's Seafood Shack.
Taking over a vacant spot on Napeague Stretch plagued by endless turnover, the Mahon's crew (a team of NYC Irish pub runners & a French chef) have upped the digs with a fire pit/al fresco patio, and decked the interior with a fireplace and enormous wrap around central bar, which loops from the entrance into the dining area and finishes under windows that open to the deck, perfect for after you vow to never set foot inside a bar again, but really want a drink. Shack snacks run from jumbo shrimp cocktail w/ a tequila lime cocktail sauce, to fried calamari either traditional or buffalo style, to King William mussels in a garlic white wine sauce, to Shameless Nachos, who won't stop flaunting their meat and beans. Next up're hearty staples including grilled tuna Steak w/ chunky chimichurri salsa, hearty peppercorn-sauced sirloins, and lobsters served steamed (2 lbs) w/ local corn & tarragon citrus salsa, or on a roll w/ slaw & steak fries, a combo whose name pays homage in name to a legendary Maine seafood joint called Red Eats, which is also what Red Foxx would Twitter three times a day if he was alive. And boring.
